Colder weather is coming
With the recent changes in the weather and further cold weather coming in the next month or so you may want to know what hypothermia is and how it affects the body.
Hypothermia is a reduction of the core body temperature (the temperature of the vital organs) my as little as two degrees Centigrade. Signs of a patient entering a hypothermic state are uncontrollable shivering that will eventually stop, confusion and an inability to pay attention, feeling afraid, memory loss, loss of co-ordination, slurred speech, slow shallow breathing and a weak pulse.
If your patient is exhibiting these symptoms you will need emergency assistance immediately!
